Hobbies

I am always looking for new, exciting, challenging, and rewarding teaching opportunities. I am currently working at a school that serves students with disabilities, ages 5-14 and have worked with students between the ages of 5-21 since I started tutoring and teaching almost three years ago. I graduated with a BSE from Millersville University with a major in Technology Education (formerly Industrial Arts) and a minor in English in December 2014. I think that I have a very unique skill set, one that is balanced by my technical abilities, reasoning skills, and organizational skills with my ability to think abstractly, creatively, and outside of the box. I am an avid reader and enjoy everything from science fiction stories to the Harry Potter series to texts regarded as "the classics." I am a movie buff as well and I think that it pairs nicely with my love for books and has really helped me become a better reader, writer, and teacher. I enjoy exercising, keeping in shape, and (trying) to eat healthy. I love to cook and I enjoy following a recipe the first time I make a dish, but modifying it the second time around... I get very mixed results. While I enjoy all of the things above, my favorite thing to do is to create things in my "wodshop." I have made everything from Shaker-style furniture to reclaimed wood pallet coffee tables to yo-yo's and picture frames. Like cooking, I very rarely go off of someone else's plan and I love the thrill of tinkering and figuring things out on my own.
